Michael Short is a Partner at Madison Marcus and leads the Employment and Workplace Relations Division. He has been practicing law in NSW, ACT, and the UK for over 20 years. Michael's expertise includes civil litigation, advising clients on complex, contentious, and non-contentious matters in a wide range of areas.
In the Employment and Workplace Relations sector, he specialises in cases regarding discrimination, unfair dismissal, bullying, general protections, harassment, OHS compliance, and contractual issues.
Michael is also experienced in crisis management of white-collar crimes, such as copyright infringement, cybercrime, fraud, identity theft, tax invasion, insider trading, and money laundering.
Laura Jones is Chief People Officer for dnata catering Australia. Part of the Emirates Group, dnata catering is Australia’s most admired catering and retail partner specialising in inflight catering, buy-on-board catering programs, travel retail technology solutions, and airport lounge operation and management.
A wide ranging role, Laura leads People, Culture, Safety, Wellbeing and Internal Communications; areas which have been critical as the aviation sector and it’s dedicated staff have navigated the post-pandemic world of work. During the last 5 years Laura has also overseen a significant culture change program, following the acquisition of Qantas Catering, bringing together the two largest airline caterers in Australia. Laura and her team have implemented initiatives aimed at creating one single, positive culture to ensure business survival, whilst remaining dedicated to maintaining staff connection and support.
Carol is an accomplished Human Resources Director, and a successful Business and Leadership Coach within industries as diverse as Retail, FMCG, Early Education, Construction and Manufacturing with extensive experience in start-ups.
With over 24 years of experience in HR, she has translated corporate strategy into effective people strategies for sustainable growth. Carol has personally worked at notable businesses such as Visy Packaging, KFC Restaurants, Norths Collective, Fantastic Furniture and G8 Education Limited.
